Vegetarian farmer becomes world's oldest new dad

Surprisingly, who would think of a 96-year-old man becoming a new father?

According to the Times of India, Ramjit Raghav, a farmer who lives in Haryana, India, is on record for being the oldest new father on the planet. Healthy baby boy, Ranjeet, was embraced by his parents earlier this month.

This is the couple’s second child -- two years ago the happy parents welcomed a baby boy named Vikramajeet.

Ramjit Raghav credits his excellent health to his life-long lifestyle which includes being a vegetarian and teetotaler.

Ramjit Raghav was a celibate bachelor most of his life until he married wife, Shakuntala Devi, ten years ago.

Ramjit Raghav said, “I didn’t take any performance enhancers . . . I just prayed to go to complete my family, either a boy or a girl. After staying together, we decided to extend our family and aspired for two sons. With God’s grace, our wish has been fulfilled.”

According to the Vegetarian Society, “appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diet, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases.”

This certainly holds true for 96-year-old father, Ramjit Raghav.
