NY Rangers coach John Tortorella discuses NYC Dog Walk on Jane Velez-Mitchell Show

Animal lover and New York Rangers coach John Tortorella is the man behind the John Tortorella NYC Dog Walk.  His foundation, the John &  Christine Tortorella Family Foundation partnered with Best Friends Animal Society to sponsor the event on September 9th.  There was a great turn out of human and canine alike.  All proceeds were donated to the Westchester Humane Society and other no-kill shelters.

John Tortorella and the Westchester Humane Society's President, Eric Lobel appeared on the Jane Velez-Mitchell show to talk about the walk and advocate for animal adoption.  Tortorella stresses the importance of awareness and encourages people to go out and volunteer at shelters, while Lobel and Jane Velez-Mitchell emphasize the need for spaying and neutering pets to prevent overpopulation and homeless animals.  All three recommend adopting from shelters.

Benny the rescue dog from North Carolina came to the show with Tortorella and Lobel and has already been adopted!  It goes to show that passion and awareness are all it takes to find loving animals great homes.
