Top 5 ways to meet other vegan and veggie-minded people

Did you recently become raw or vegan and don’t really know any other raw or vegan like-minded people? Have you been raw for awhile and already know some other raw vegans but are curious as to how to meet more? Are you single and want the next person you date to have the same lifestyle as you?
Whatever the reason, if you are following a raw or vegan diet, you probably want to meet other people along a similar path. A recent survey I conducted on my Facebook Fan page at Raw Food Fans Website indicates this to be true. This blog post will show you the top 5 ways to meet other raw vegans and veggie-minded people.

Facebook Groups – I LOVE Facebook’s new option to join or create various Groups. They have groups for literally every topic of interest. I created my own, called “Raw Food World-Class Leaders” which was created to join together authors, chefs and vegan entrepreneurs. (Drop me a line if you are interested in joining). There are literally thousands of Groups….and if you don’t find a group you are looking for, you can simple create your own. I log into my various groups EVERY DAY! You can connect with friends all over the world who share the same interest. It’s free and great to meet other like-minded people. – If you are looking for a love connection in the veggie world, Veggiedate can’t be beat. You can search for potential partners who follow a variety of eating choices (vegetarian, vegan, raw vegan, even macrobiotic). They are offering a free two-week membership right now, so try it out. I once attempted to use it to meet new guy friends but wasn’t successful. Veggiedate is best used to use when trying to make a love connection for casual dating, long-term relationship or even marriage. is a great way to meet friends and network with like-minded individuals no matter where in the world you live. Escape from the virtual world and meet like-minded friends face-to-face! Each meetup group hosts different events so you can attend social gatherings, dinners, and other fun activities. Meetup is free, so sign up on their website and start looking for meet up events that appeal to your preferred activities and lifestyle.

Join – This online program is incredible for meeting like-minded movers and shakers looking to change the world. You have access to an exclusive membership forum and connect with incredible people all over the world. I loved working with Dr. Will Tuttle to create this training program and community forum. I have met many of the facilitators in person and have never experienced such an enriching program that helps to spread the message of bloodless revolution. This is also a perfect group if you are or want to start making a living spreading the message of plant-based diet, peace, and compassion.

Host a Potluck Dinner – You can host a potluck dinner or other type of event for raw vegans or vegans. This works best if you already know other raw vegans, because you can ask them to invite some of their like-minded friends. You can network with others in your Meetup groups or find friends on the Facegroup Groups who live in the area.

When trying to meet and befriend other vegans, general social rules apply. Do not come on too strong, as that will make others uncomfortable. Just ask people polite questions and listen to their answers. When getting to know other raw vegans, you have the advantage of already having something big in common. That means you can start conversation about being a raw vegan.

Feel free to try and make friends with anyone even if they are not a raw vegan. Friendships come in all shapes and sizes, and who knows? You might just influence the friend next door towards a better lifestyle through your own example. It is best not to preach and try to “convert” others to your lifestyle. Just be who you are, share the love, and the rest will follow.

If you come across negative people, which is inevitable, limit your time with them. You cannot change those who are not ready. The people making fun of you are just insecure about their own lifestyle and starting to question if they are on the right path. Remember, do not take it personally. Be the example of health, happiness, and love and you will attract the right people to you. For more on this, I recommend reading “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz.

How about you? What are your favorite ways to meet other like-minded friends? I’d love to hear from you, and feel free to post links to your favorite websites on our Facebook page.
