Ellen Degeneres is opening a vegan restaurant

That's right, Ellen is opening a vegan restaurant and I can barely contain my excitement. The location: Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley, California. (I guess I will be planning a trip there soon!)

If you didn't know that Ellen is vegan, where have you been? Ellen and her wife Portia have teamed up with Chrissie Hynde (The Pretenders singer) as well as film producer Steve Bing as investors of the new establishment.

Well known vegan chef Tal Ronnen, who prepared meals for Oprah's 21-day vegan cleanse, will create the menu for Ellen's new place. I had the opportunity to hear Tal speak at D.C. Vegfest 2010, so I am super excited to hear that he will play a role in building the restaurant.

Check out Ellen's new website, Going Vegan with Ellen for tips, recipes, vegan celeb news, and all things vegan.

Although a name has yet to be released, the buzz on this 100% animal-free eatery is making its way throughout the vegan community quickly. Some veg-friendly celebs you might see at the new place? Newly turned vegan Ozzie Osbourne, Carrie Underwood, former President Bill Clinton, Alec Baldwin, Woody Harrelson, Anthony Kiedis, Jared Leto, Steve-O, and the list goes on! You can see a full list on Going Vegan with Ellen.

Ellen's goal is to make people "feel good" about themselves and others. I have so much respect for a celebrity who uses their fame in a positive way. Hats off to Ellen for spreading not only spreading the word on good health, but taking action to make it happen!
