Robert Pattinson’s dog Bear—the pup that the actor saved from a shelter a few months ago—had fallen ill to a highly contagious viral infection called Canine Parvovirus.

According to the ASPCA, "[The virus] is now one of the most common serious dog disease problems encountered in animal shelters."

"It was such a relief being able to go into the vet and say, 'I want the best, immediately,'" Pattinson said in a statement to Elle UK magazine.

Bear is supposedly doing better now, and Kristen Stewart, actress and rumored girlfriend of Pattinson, was recently spotted walking the puppy outside of a hotel in New York City.
