The Big Apple with a side of broccoli, NYC Vegetarian Food Festival set for April

If you like NYC, free vegan food and did I mention free food? - then you'll love this! This year will mark the first year (of many more to come hopefully) of the NYC Vegetarian Food Festival.

Sarah Gross and Nira Paliwoda, two NYC based entrepreneurs and foodies, had the bright idea of planning a food festival to gather all the cities "conscious eaters" in one place to celebrate what we all share in common. FOOD! Ok, maybe I'm getting sidetracked. This festival is about more than just food. This will be a chance for conscious eaters of all degrees and leanings to meet each other and network. Vegetarians, vegans, flexitarians, locavores and more.

The festival promises contests, live performances and guest speakers as well as - yes - free food samples. Entry to the festival is also free - so drag a few of your meat eating friends along too - they can't complain that it costs too much! If you want to get an idea for who has already planned to go, join the Facebook Event. Personally, I almost jumped for joy when I saw Terry Romero (author of Viva Vegan) on the guest list.

This one day event takes place April 3rd from 10am to 6pm in the Altman Building. Speakers and musical guests have not yet been announced. But you can always check out the festival's website to keep yourself in the know.

Hope to see you all there!
