Photographer uses celebrity dog images to promote pro-shelter adoption message

Photographer Robbie Bellon is doing his part to stop puppy mills. The photographer says, "Even if you want a purebred, there's just no reason to support puppy mills by buying a dog at a pet store or over the Internet."

So, how has Bellon decided to get his word out? Or rather, his image? Through the lens of his camera, of course. Bellon took photos of over 25 celebrity pets, all of whom were rescued from the streets or adopted through shelters.

The photos were displayed as an exhibit in both New York City and Los Angeles. Next, the images are being compiled into a calendar to benefit the HSUS’ Stop Puppy mills campaign.

The images are full of hope, tying together these animals who were given a second chance at a happy life.

"I want to show that there are so many great dogs out there at shelters, rescue groups, breed rescues," says Bellon. The images are full of hope, tying together these animals who were given a second chance at a happy life.

The calendar is on sale now through Zazzle.com, and to see more of Bellon’s Rescue Paws images, go to his website at www.robbiebellon.com.
