NBA champion and vegan John Salley to lead walk for farm animals in NYC

On October 24, NBA champion and vegan John Salley will host Farm Sanctuary’s 2010 Walk for Farm Animals in New York City. The annual event is taking place in 75 cities across the United States to promote awareness and raise funds for the lifesaving rescue, education and advocacy work of Farm Sanctuary, the nation’s leading farm animal protection organization.

“Farm animals are smart, friendly animals who experience fear, pain and suffering just like cats, dogs and all other living beings do,” says Salley. “As a proud Brooklyn native who believes all animals should be treated with compassion, I am honored to be back in my hometown leading the 2010 New York City Walk for Farm Animals.”

Last year’s walk in New York City was the largest ever with 800 people attending. Farm Sanctuary is hoping the number will grow this year.

“I encourage all New Yorkers to join me on Sunday, October 24 to spread a critical message of hope for farm animals. I’ll see YOU at the Walk!” said Salley.

So if you are a New Yorker who wants to support animals and meet "The Spider" then show up in central park on October 24.
