Hartz Naturals Real Beef Treats recalled due to possible Salmonella risk

The Hartz Mountain Corporation is voluntarily recalling 74,700 8-oz bags of Hartz Naturals Real Beef Treats for Dogs due to possible Salmonella risk in one or more bags within the lot.

Recalled product:
Hartz Naturals Real Beef Treats for Dogs, lot code BZ0969101E, UPC number 32700-11519

Dog owners who have purchased this product should immediately check the lot code on the bag. If a lot code is not visible or reads BZ0969101E, the product should be discarded.

Salmonella symptoms in humans include some or all of the following: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. On rare occasions more series ailments can occur including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers displaying those symptoms should contact their physician.

Pets who have contracted Salmonella may have decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Without care, animals may become lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Pets with those symptoms should be seen by a veterinarian.
