Back in February we covered PETA’s attempt to convert Zac Brown Band’s “eat and greets” from a “Chicken Friend” grease-fest to a more heart healthy and compassionate “Tofu Fried” event. Needless to say that endeavor failed—or did it?
In an interview with PARADE, the frontman for the Grammy Award-winning country act, Mr. Zac Brown himself, tossed out this surprising morsel while describing a homemade marinade—featured in his new cookbook— that he hopes to market to the public in the future.
"It's vegan," he told PARADE’s Joanna Prisco. "I used coconut milk as the base so it will remain creamy but can last for long periods of time in the stores. I'm almost there, but I think it's just a little too much ginger on the back end. I'll get it.”
Yes he did say the marinade is vegan. I think I just heard church bells.
The rest of his cookbook most likely contains a myriad of recipes that call for some type of flesh, but hey at least the marinade is animal-product free, right? Kudos to Zac for at least muttering the word vegan, some folks can’t even bare to do that.
