Alicia Silverstone and Marilu Henner to receive PCRM’s Voice of Compassion Award

This weekend Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) will host the 25th anniversary of The Art of Compassion gala. During the star-studded event Alicia Silverstone and Marilu Henner will be honored with The Voice of Compassion Award.

The Voice of Compassion Award recognizes individuals who have communicated caring, compassion, and the highest ethical principles.

“Alicia Silverstone and Marilu Henner have had a tremendous impact in spreading the message about health issues related to diet and nutrition,” said Neal Barnard, M.D., PCRM’s founder and president. “They have played a particularly significant role in shining a spotlight on the powerful health benefits of a vegan diet.”

Ellen DeGeneres was presented with the same award this week on the set of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

The Art of Compassion gala, which takes place on April 10 in West Hollywood, is co-chaired by Cindy Landon, widow of actor Michael Landon, and supported by over 50 celebrities including Alec Baldwin, Katherine Heigl, Bill Mahr, Tobey Maguire, Woody Harrelson, Ben Stein, and Ginnifer Goodwin.
