PETA recently sent surveys to first ladies across the nation asking, “Do you wear fur?” A representative for Maryland First Lady, Katie O’Malley, was one of the first to respond thanking PETA for its “hard work” and saying, "Our First Lady, Katie O'Malley, does not wear fur."

"We're thrilled that Katie O'Malley is among the world-class first ladies who are setting a wonderful example by respecting animals,” declares PETA Senior Vice President Dan Mathews. “Compassionate women around the world know that fur is dated and cruel."

First ladies of Delaware, Indiana, Maine, Ohio, Oregon, Utah, and Wisconsin are among those who have responded to PETA’s survey, all asserting that they are fur-free.
