Often times, the biggest obstacle for individuals deciding to adopt a meatless lifestyle is that the task seems so daunting. Luckily, for those struggling, the Monday Campaigns is partnering with the website Fitango.com to help users incorporate “Meatless Mondays” into their weekly meal plans.
The Mondays Campaign is a national movement which aims to inspire people to devote the first day of the week to health. They chose Fitango as partner because the website is a social network devoted to health and wellness in which users can consult health professionals for advice, and create action plans. This means Fitango will be offering a free inclusive "Make Mondays Meatless in March" action plan, and will be highlighting the efforts of the Healthy Monday project throughout the month.
"The great thing about Meatless Monday is that it's a grassroots message— we rely on people to get out there and talk about it," says Meatless Monday advocate Sharon Palmer , R.D., author of The Plant-Powered Diet. "Celebrities, chefs, and influencers are doing Meatless Monday, which makes a big impact on spreading the word."
The site is used by celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Al Gore, Sir Paul McCartney, and Giada DeLaurentiis.
How does the action plan work? It contains shopping lists, recipes, and everything else readers will need to get started on going vegetarian once a week. The action plans are designed by health experts, with step-by-step guides to reaching or maintaining a health goal. This helps to connect and inspire users through journaling, tracking software, and support from their peers on the site.
Fitango is offering an incentive for its users to start incorporating Meatless Mondays into their routines by offering the Meatless Monday Actionplan for free. In addition, they will give new tips for health and diet every week.
