The 2012 peta2 Libby Award winners have been announced. Not only will you know which stores, restaurants, celebrities, and bands who love animals as much as you do, but you can make sure that you are supporting the right names when you go shopping or decide to grab a bite to eat.
The Libby Awards recognizes winners in the categories of Food, Heroes, and Lifestyle. All of these noticeably compassionate people are winners to us, but peta2 could only name one official winner per category. Winners of the Libby Awards receive a personalized certificate and tons of love from fellow vegans and vegetarians.
There is no doubt that being vegan provides you with loads of amazing food to try. Unfortunately, options can be limited at restaurants, so it’s a huge plus when restaurants cater to vegans and vegetarians.
Chipotle was named “Best Vegan-Friendly Restaurant Chain” and Tofurky Chorizo Style won “Best Vegan Meat.” Daiya Cheddar Style Wedge won “Best Dairy Alternative” and MorningStar Grillers won the “Best Vegan Burger” category. ProBar Halo Bars won for “Best Vegan Snack.” Who says vegans don’t eat anything?
Local restaurants deserve recognition too! Imagine Restaurant (Memphis, Tennessee) won “Best Vegan Local Restaurant” and City Dogs (Salt Lake City) took the award for “Best Vegan Food Truck.” Back to Eden (Portland, Oregon) won for “Best Vegan Bakery.”
Peta2 recognizes celebrities who have done their part to make the world a better place, and since peta2 targets a younger audience, it makes sense that younger celebrities should receive recognition for their efforts.
Covering categories such as “Favorite peta2 Hottie” and “Best peta2 Ad,” peta2 gives younger vegans a great group of people to look up to. Renee Olstead won “Most Animal-Friendly Celeb” and Jona Weinhofen (Bring Me To The Horizon) won “Best peta2 Ad.” Trace Cyrus won “Most Animal-Friendly Pop/ Hip Hop Artist” and We The Kings won “Most Animal-Friendly Band.” Megan Massacre won the award for “Favorite peta2 Hottie.” The band, Tonight Alive won the “peta2 Breakthrough Artist” award and Katia Rodriguez won the award for “Street Teamer of The Year.” What a great list of names to support.
Don’t forget to spread the word about these great food options and animal-friendly celebrities.
