Why not give a homeless pet a home for the holidays? A new home and a loving family are the best gifts that a homeless pet could ask for, and they would spend their whole lives thanking you for it!
In honor of “National Mutt Day” On December 2nd, Petco is hosting their National Adoption Weekend. During the weekend of December 1st, Petco is working hard to find homes for all shelter animals, no matter what the breed. Because many people prefer to adopt purebred, Petco wants to let everyone know just how special mixed breeds are, and celebrating mixed breeds is one of the main goals of the event.
“National Mutt Day” was created in 2005 to educate the public about the importance of adopting mixed breed dogs. There is no logical reason why people should pass by a mixed breed—they are well behaved, healthy, and are very talented, often serving as guide dogs, police dogs, and search and rescue dogs. What’s not to love about them?
The holidays are a time of giving, so consider giving a homeless pet, especially a mixed breed, a new home this weekend. Around 5 to 7 million animals enter shelters annually, and many of them end up euthanized if they are not given a home. The biggest percentage of dogs euthanized in animal shelters are mixed breed, so adopting a mixed breed is especially important. You can be responsible for saving a life.
Healthy pet food producer, Natural Balance, is sponsoring Petco’s National Adoption Weekend and will give all new adopting pet parents a free 2.75 oz. roll of dog food and $3 off a 12.5 lb. bag of dry or cased dog food.
New adopted cat parents won’t be left out—they will receive a free can or pouch of cat food and $3 off any 10 lb. dry or cased cat food. Cats are important too! (As all animals are)
Visit a Petco near you this weekend and bring home a new best friend. Adoption events will take place this weekend at every Petco and Unleashed by Petco store all over the nation. Adoption hours vary so check with your preferred store beforehand.
The holidays are a time for giving to those in need, and so many homeless animals need our help. Visit your local Petco this weekend and help celebrate the National Adoption Weekend and “National Mutt Day.” You won’t regret it!
