Matt & Nat bags, or as I like to call them Heaven In A Handbag, have made my vegan dreams come true. Not only are they gorgeous and stylish bags that those in the front row of Fashion Week would approve of, but they are eco-friendly and completely cruelty free as well.
And lucky me, the kind folks over at Matt & Nat were gracious enough to send me a bag to try out and of course, I instantly fell in love with it. My favorite part? The lining in every bag is made out of 100% recycled plastic bottles!
Ok stop- I know what you're thinking and don't let the reused plastic bottle thing throw you. I've gotten a million compliments on mine, and once I tell these green eyed folks that the bag is not only made out of recycled material but that it's entirely vegan, most don't believe their eyes. Ugh, those carnivores have so much to learn.
I love the concept behind this Canadian born company! Here's a little about the philosophy and details behind their handbag line:
MATT & NAT is a vegan line designed in Montreal, Canada since 1995. Inspired by Eastern philosophies, creative director and founder Inder Bedi felt compelled early on to create a brand that is completely cruelty-free.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and with no formal fashion training, Bedi set about making bags with local craftsmen, learning early on about the importance of quality workmanship.
MATT & NAT is carried in boutiques across Canada, the United States, the U.K. and Japan.
Live beautifully is the mantra at the core of MATT & NAT. Living beautifully means appreciating beauty, humanity, creativity and positivity.
Introduced in 2011, the use of cork, a renewable resource, for the labels inside the bags is another great sustainable feature of MATT & NAT designs. The company also uses high quality synthetics and fabrics, and develops its own custom hardware.
Inspired by everyday life, architecture and graphics, Inder gradually developed the vision behind MATT & NAT: creating beautiful things that have a positive impact. Following this philosophy, the company puts a strong emphasis on environmental awareness; Linings inside MATT & NAT products are always made out of 100% recycled plastic bottles.
Pretty cool, right?! I can cosign on all of that! Matt & Nat have a bevy of styles and colors for you to choose from. My Matt & Nat bag is certainly a stable piece in my wardrobe and one of my go-to pieces. Below are my favorite styles!
Minka Large (sometimes bigger really is better.)
And men...they have plenty of stuff for you too including duffel bags, messenger bags, and computer cases.
