Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale starts Saturday

Get out your cookie cutters and cupcake tins. The annual Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale begins this weekend.

From Saturday, April 21 through Sunday, April 29, groups around the world will bake-up cruelty-free sweets as an old-school effort to raise money for organizations of their choice.

“Each participating group gets to choose its venue, what to sell, and how it uses the proceeds,” according to the WVBS website.

This year, more than 150 bake sales have been set-up across the globe, reaching as far as Australia and South Korea.

Since its founding, participating groups have raised over $100,000 to support animal welfare groups, farm sanctuaries, food cooperatives and vegetarian organizations.

In 2009, the creative (and delicious) idea was named “Veg Event of the Year” by VegNews Magazine.

It’s not too late to start your own vegan bake sale. Just send the details to info@veganbakesale.org.
