Animal Planet to air HSUS's star studded 26th annual Genesis Awards May 5

There’s no better excuse to curl up on the couch with your furry companions and a hefty spread of vegan snacks: On Saturday, May 5, Animal Planet presents the Humane Society’s 26th annual Genesis Awards.

The only awards show to shine light on animal welfare issues and advocacy, the Genesis Awards will be a star-studded event, honoring celebrities animal-lovers such as Ellen DeGeneres, Stephen Colbert, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, Ian Somerhalder, and Grammy winning singer/songwriter Colbie Caillat, as well as many animal-friendly feature films and documentaries.

Your host for the evening will be Dancing with the Stars’ judge and animal welfare advocate Carrie Ann Inaba, with a little help from Uggie, the Oscar-winning pooch from The Artist. Featuring fun interviews, animal welfare news and an awards ceremony, this is the biggest night of the year to celebrate animals and those who love them!

Tune in to Animal Planet on Saturday, May 5, at 4.00 p.m., ET/PT, with an encore presentation on Sunday, May 6, at 8.00 a.m., ET/PT.
