Halo, the pet food company co-owned by our favorite vegan funny lady Ellen DeGeneres, is teaming up with the pet charity FreeKibble.com to deliver 400,000 Halo Spot Stew dinners to dog shelters and rescues in need.

This holiday season, between December 13 and 22, two semi-trucks filled with over two tons of dog food will make their way along the east and west coasts for the good cause.

"Helping animals has always been a passion of mine," DeGeneres says. "At Halo we want to promote healthy living for pets and eating good food is a big part of that. I mean, imagine, an animal in a shelter, in a cage, lonely - a good meal is kinda all they have to look forward to, until you adopt them!"

"It's extra special because it's not just any kibble, but it's healthy, nutritious and delicious!" said Mimi Ausland, the 15-year-old  founder of Freekibble.com, . "I know it will make their holidays a bit warmer and more special."

Freekibble.com has donated over 6.6 million meals to hungry animals over the past 3 years.
