Vegan actress gains 15 pounds for film 'The Help'

It's easy for me to pack on three pounds in one day, but it seems vegan actress Jessica Chastain has a much tougher time adding weight. The 30-year-old "The Help" star had to gain 15 pounds for her role as Celia, a character reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe. In order to acquire this likeness, it was crucial that Jessica become curvier.

In an effort to quickly gain the needed weight, Jessica consumed large amounts of soy. If I were in her position, I think I would have gone for chocolates, but to each their own.

"Soy helps you become curvy because it has estrogen in it," she said. "So what I would do -- and this is really gross -- is buy cartons of soy ice cream, microwave it and drink it. It was disgusting, [but] wait [until] you see my boobs in the movie."

How did she drop the pounds once the film wrapped production? Jessica practices yoga and had this to say:

"I do a lot of yoga. I'm also vegan, so that helps. I lose weight really quick."

The film, set in the 60's in Mississippi, tells the story of three woman working together on a project during a trying time. Pushing the boundaries of society these woman exhibit amazing strength and courage. The films tagline, "Change begins with a whisper" defines a story sure to inspire all.

The movie is now playing in theaters nationwide.
