‘Bones’ vegan star Emily Deschanel ‘saying no to meat makes me stronger’

In an interview with Ladies Home Journal, for the magazine’s feature write up Real Beauty at Every Age, actress Emily Deschanel revealed how she nurtures herself. And thankfully there wasn’t a single mention of indulging in a slice of Muenster or a serving of scrambled eggs.

“Saying no to meat makes me feel stronger inside; I feel aligned with my morals and ethics,” said Deschanel.

The 34-year-old Bones star also discussed what it’s like being a pregnant vegan:

I still have to defend myself because people don't understand it (being vegan). As a pregnant woman especially, people will say to me, ‘You must eat meat and dairy.’ You really have to tap into your self-esteem whenever people try to convince you you're making the wrong choice.

Isn't refreshing to see a vegan celebrity sticking to their guns?

You can catch Emily Deschanel this fall in the seventh season of Fox’s hit crime drama Bones.
