Tal Ronnen attends groundbreaking event for vegan-friendly LYFE restaurant

Last week vegan chef Tal Ronnen joined former McDonald’s Global President Mike Roberts and Olympian Janet Evans to celebrate the groundbreaking of the very first LYFE (Love Your Food Everyday) Kitchen restaurant in Palo Alto, Calif.

The new eatery is being heralded as a healthy alternative to the myriad of fast food establishments that litter the U.S. landscape by offering patrons low calorie, natural and additive-free fare.

"Today we lift our forks to answer America's most significant unmet need—providing great tasting, good-for-you food that is affordable and convenient," said LYFE CEO Mike Roberts. "We aim to create a new category—the 'LYFEstyle' restaurant—that stands apart from all others. Our approach is simple. We ask Americans to 'Love Your Food Everyday.'"

Even though meaty meals are available at LYFE, thanks to the expert consulting work of Tal Ronnen, vegan and vegetarian customers will not be left out in the cold.

Offerings such as the “Ancient Grains Bowl” and as we reported in February, a Gardein Burger, are designed to keep plant-based eaters happy and sated.

Additionally LYFE Kitchen claims to be a socially responsible operation “which is reflected in the brand's philosophy toward environmental practices, building materials, animal welfare, product sourcing, and through philanthropic and community-based activities.”

LYFE’s Palo Alto location is slated to open later this summer and if the ambitious plans of the restaurant’s brass are still on track, 250 locations should open within the next 5 years.

A healthy alternative to McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Burger King, it’s so crazy it just might work. Or will it?
