‘Vegan Diet’ ties for second in diabetes category of U.S. News diet rankings

U.S. News Media Group, publisher of U.S. News, has released its "Best Diet" rankings, and the “Vegan Diet” gets the nod in one category. Break out the bubbly.

The rankings include 20 diets broken down into 5 categories; Best Weight Loss Diets, Best Heart Healthy Diets, Best Diabetes Diet, Best Diets Overall and Best Commercial Diet Plans.

The Vegan Diet tied with the Mayo Clinic Diet and The Ornish Diet for second best within the Diabetes Category behind the DASH Diet—which also took home best overall.

Apparently, according to the experts at U.S. News, Weight Watchers offers a superior dieting experience over the Vegan Diet.

Weight Watchers tied for second in the overall rankings while Vegan failed to make the top three.

Diets were ranked based on ratings from an independent panel of 22 experts.

What are your thoughts? Is the ranking of vegan as a diet program amongst others a good thing or a bad thing for veganism (lifestyle and diet) overall?
