Vegetarian actors abound in Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit'

Lord of the Rings fans can finally celebrate as the release dates and cast have been confirmed for The Hobbit. And vegetarian fans have even more reason to be excited considering the cast is filled with veg actors.

Vegetarian Martin Freeman (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, The Office) will star as Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s upcoming—and long awaited— prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The 39-year-old actor who has also worked on PETA’s Kentucky Fried Cruelty campaign will be joined by fellow vegetarians Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood, Andy Serkis, and Hugo Weaving.

Needless to say plant-based fare will be extremely popular on the set of the blockbuster films. Yes that’s right films.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again will be released to theaters in December of 2012 and 2013.
