Actress Nina Dobrev of 'The Vampire Diaries' couldn't maintain a vegetarian diet

After switching to a vegetarian diet four months ago, Nina Dobrev recently gave up because it was too “hard” for her to maintain, according to an interview the 22-year-old actress had with Seventeen Fitness magazine.

"At the end of last year, I tried being a vegetarian for four months, and after awhile, I started feeling weak, like I needed more protein, more energy," explained The Vampire Diaries actress.

The actress said that she read a review of an episode of the popular series—which also stars Ian Somerhalder—where the writer stated that she looked thin.

Apparently after reading the review, she decided that dead cow flesh would help put some meat on her bones, “It made me think: I need a burger -- a beef burger, not a soy burger."

Although Dobrev could not stick with vegetarianism, she stated, "I have so much respect for vegetarians and I'm so glad I tried it.”

Of course we all know that a vegetarian diet is perfectly healthy, and when properly maintained does not cause loss of energy or weakness. It seems that Ms. Dobrev needed to educate herself on proper food to eat when following a compassionate diet.
