Thinking of going veg? Vegetarian Times has a challenge for you. Whether you're new to the scene, are looking to jump back on the wagon after a recent fall, or just love to cook, the 28 Day Veg Boot Camp may be right up your alley.
In Vegetarian Time's most recent issue (June 2011) they asked nutritionist Dawn Jackson Blatner, who wrote The Flexitarian Diet, to design the program's delicious, balanced meals. Blatner set up each meal to have approximately 400 calories with a more than generous 16 grams of protein while each snack measures in at 200 calories and 6.5 grams of protein.
But the Boot Camp is about more than just food. Each day of the challenge you will receive an electronic newsletter complete with inspirational words, shopping lists, recipes, myth debunking information from doctors and nutritionists and a support group to boot. This 28 day regimen will whip your current diet into shape while demonstrating the vegetarian diet's ability to be both satisfying and safe.
The June issue addresses the protein myth and reassures readers that a plant based diet will in fact fill you up. The recipes like the sugar snap and snow pea stir fry and the veggie pot pies had me excited to start cooking. Vegetarian Times promises more facts and foods when you sign up!
