Animal Planet announces the premiere date of ‘Whale Wars’ fourth season

Prepare to mark your calendars Sea Shepherd fans, the fourth season of Animal Planet’s Emmy-nominated reality series “Whale Wars” is set to premiere Friday, June 3 at 9 PM EST.

According to Animal Planet, season 4 will feature the high seas action viewers of the show have come to anticipate but with new equipment including secret GPS devices, an extended range helicopter and a new vessel, the Gojira, expect even more heart pounding adventure.

But beyond the high tech devices and cool looking ships is the real story, the story of a crew who risks everything to save innocent creatures from being brutally slaughtered.

“In order to save the whales, people have to be willing to risk their lives,” explained Captain Paul Watson.

When asked if the Sea Shepherd's efforts can actually lead to an end to whaling, Watson emphatically responded, “We can’t stop whaling? That’s what they once said about slavery, but it was stopped. So yes, we can stop whaling.”

Considering the early end to whale season this February—whalers fulfilled only 15% of quota—this year’s "Whale Wars" is being billed as a possible final battle.

Hopefully, like slavery, whaling becomes a relic of the past, a lot sooner than later.
