Hospitality company adds vegetarian offering to Durham Bulls menu lineup

Centerplate, a hospitality company that provides service for 250 sport, entertainment and convention venues, has introduced a new menu offering that will have vegetarian minor-league baseball aficionados in Durham, NC, singing “Take me out to the ballgame.”

Fans of the Durham Bulls who need a break from the meat-fest that is baseball cuisine will have the option of ordering a Morning Star Veggie Sausage. Ah a little respite from hot dogs, wings and beefy cheesy nachos.

The vegetarian friendly sausage will be served with peppers and onions and even though it was not mentioned, most likely on a bun of some kind.

Sure it isn’t vegan and yes it is a processed, prepackaged product oozing with sodium and difficult to pronounce chemicals. But at least it is a step up from the other new menu selections Centerplate has introduced to Durham Bulls Athletic Field, like the “Wings Around the World” and the ground beef filled “Walking Taco.”

In other words, we’ll take what we can get.
