Kesha and Iggy Pop join the fight against Canada's seal season

Pop star Ke$ha and rocker Iggy Pop have joined together with PETA to end the annual Canadian seal hunt.

The two singers are featured in separate ads with the slogan, “CANADA’S CLUB SCENE SUCKS.”

The Canadian government permits a “seal season” which allows hunters to murder thousands of baby seals per year. The seals chosen for slaughter are usually no more than 3 months old and are completely defenseless. Hunters incapacitate (or kill) the beautiful creatures by brutally clubbing them then proceed to drag the seals, often still conscious, across the ice.

"I was lucky enough to get to watch a bunch of wild seals recently and truly fell in love with these amazing creatures," said Ke$ha."Canada gets to be host to harp seals each year during their migration to the ice to give birth which is beautiful and peaceful. But because the babies' fur is so soft, there are people who club and brutally kill these young animals.”

"Clubbing baby seals is sick and gives Canada a black eye. Don’t let the greed of a few tarnish the image of the whole country," said Iggy Pop.

“The Canadian seal slaughter is barbaric and archaic. My music and my fans are part of a movement of youth taking over the world with positive change," states Ke$ha.

Many other celebrities, such as Ryan Reynolds, Bryan Adams, Sarah McLachlan, and Pamela Anderson, have also spoken out against seal slaughter.

Iggy Pop wisely concludes, "The terror and suffering that these defenseless, friendly, intelligent, inquisitive creatures endure to create fur jackets—it's immoral."
