Planet Green and Goodwill team up for Donate Movement, launch 'Dresscue Me'

Resale giant Goodwill and the television network Planet Green, which is devoted to conscious living, have teamed up for the Donate Movement. The message behind this movement, according to its website, is that donating items can "make a difference in people’s lives, strengthen communities and create a healthier environment." In other words, donating can greatly impact the world.

"Goodwill’s vision for this new Donate icon is a universal reminder to ‘recycle’ through responsible donation, helping provide opportunities for others while diverting usable items from landfills."

Goodwill's website offers tips for donating items and also provides an "impact calculator," showing the would-be recycler how much his or her donations truly can change the world.

Planet Green and Goodwill have also joined together with the new show Dresscue Me, which premieres April 19th at 10:30 p.m. The show follows Shareen Mitchell, a self-taught designer, as she gives new life to recycled clothing and then sells them in her boutiques in LA and NYC.

"Every girl is beautiful-and it's so rewarding to work with those who don't know it yet," said Mitchell. "To watch someone jump up and down after seeing herself look in a way she never imagined she could-you just see their self-esteem skyrocket. I'm not really interested in selling dresses-I'm interested in changing a person's life."

More information can be found on Dresscue Me's site here and Goodwill's Donate Movement site here.
