What Vegans Eat: Traveling as a vegan can be easy with some planning

Share |

I'm often asked if traveling as a vegan is difficult. It could be, but if you do a little bit of planning ahead, the experience can be quite amazing. One thing I love about traveling is seeking out all the vegan or vegan-friendly stores and restaurants where I will be staying. I utilize websites like Happy Cow and VegGuide and have found some truly incredible food.

While traveling to Key West to photograph a wedding, I stopped for a bite to eat in Miami. The Cafe at Books & Books in Miami Beach had an entire vegan section on their menu and their dessert of the day (carrot cake) was vegan as well. I ordered the vegan platter, which consisted of salad, grilled tofu, sweet potatoes, corn, bean salad, and black bean hummus.
