Need help for your pet? There’s an app for that!

Tired of trawling the Yellow Pages for a local dog groomer? Not sure where there’s a nearby dog-friendly park? How about having all of your dog’s medical and vaccination information to hand when you need it? For all these issues and more, there’s finally an app to help you out.

“My Dog” is a new iPhone/iPad app that allows pooch lovers to create a personalized profile of their furry friend that includes photos of medical and vaccination records, as well as a nationwide pet directory and travel guide. The creator of the app, CA based Holger Laufenberg, came up with the idea after his terrier Dax went missing.

“A panic struck me, and I first ran round the neighborhood, then started Googling and calling all the vets and shelters nearby," said Laufenberg. "Over and over again I was asked the same questions about what breed Dax is, whether he is taking any medications, has allergies, what he looked like, in case someone would bring him in.”

The profile also includes detailed contact information, description and images of your dog so that they can be directly emailed to dog trainers, daycare and boarding kennels, or shelters, vet clinics or rescue organizations if your dog should ever stray from home.

If you like to travel the country with your dog, you can search for local pet care facilities, local airlines rules for animals and even the ability to share your experience to Facebook or Twitter if you feel the need.

“I wanted to create the Yelp or Citisearch for dog owners with all the functionality and ease one should expect from a great app,” Laufenberg added.

To find out more about the app go to www.doginfousa.com or search for “My Dog” at the App Store.
