Two month old bait dog rescued by actress Katherine Heigl

Katherine Heigl, the actress with a heart of gold, has rescued a 2 month old puppy formerly used as a bait dog in the dog fighting world. The former Grey’s Anatomy star and her mother Nancy (co-founders of the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation), saw the pup at the California City Shelter and decided to take him in.

The pit bull puppy had puncture wounds and abscesses on his neck when found, and when vets were treating him they discovered he also had a broken neck vertebra. The splintered bone cannot be operated on so the poorly pup will be in a neck brace for the next few months.

The Heigl family will help the pup with his recovery, and then try to find him a permanent home. However, they are ready to adopt him if that doesn’t happen. Something tells me they might just fall in love with this gorgeous little dog!
