I'm so excited to report that I just received a press release from my friends at Gardein announcing their newest offering: Veggie Burgers!
While the vegan meat market can seem a bit saturated, this is actually amazing news as Gardein's veg-meat is out of this world. Some of my vegan friends think Gardein is too much like the animal flesh we abhor and shy away from Gardein for that reason, but their products are a great way to turn a suffering-laden dish into one you can be excited to eat and share with your omni friends. They're also great for those transitioning into a veg way of living with savory dishes that will make even a "die-hard" omnivore drool.
I've had the great honor of tasting Gardein products made by Master Vegan Chef, Tal Ronnen, so I know what this meat is capable of and believe me when I tell you, this new veggie burger has me dreaming of warm summer days grilling out with friends.
Gardein gets its name by combining the words "garden" and "protein", which truly describes this product to a T! One of my favorite things about this company is that they're working with the food service industry to get vegan items into your favorite restaurants. Better still, they're constantly coming out with new products that are as succulent as they are compassionate.
The new Ultimate Beefless burger boasts a mere 130 calories and 60% less fat than its cruelty filled counterpart. As with all of their products they are free from cholesterol and saturated fat. Each burger contains a whopping 17 grams of protein, enough to bring the question "where do you get your protein?" to a screeching halt.
“We’re very excited to launch our new Ultimate Beefless Burger—it tastes fantastic,” says Yves Potvin, president and founder of Garden Protein. “Our meat-free burger is healthier for you than a hamburger and better for the planet since it is free of animal ingredients. Plus it grills up in less than five minutes.”
Currently these burgers are only available at Ralph's in Southern Cali and select Whole Foods across the U.S. They will soon be expanding to frozen food aisles near you for a wallet-friendly price of $4.99 per 12-ounce 4 pack of patties.
I can't wait to sink my teeth into a freshly grilled Gardein patty- just in time for summer!
