'Twilight' hunk Robert Pattinson adopts shelter dog to keep him company

Robert Pattinson, of Twilight fame, recently adopted a dog while in Louisiana filming The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. The English actor is hoping the pup will keep him company during his downtime off the set, as his friends are not fond of following him to remote shooting locations. According to Pattinson, his friends will be part of his “entourage” when he hits hot locations like New York and Los Angeles but not when he is in “some random town in the sticks.”

“But that's kind of why I adopted the puppy,” the 24-year-old told UK’s Daily Record. “It's from a shelter and he was going to be put down. I only got him two or three days ago and they only keep them for 10 days."

Pattinson continued, "He's been freaked out. It's funny. I got a private plane here (to Los Angeles) from Louisiana, where I was filming Twilight, so he came out of the shelter and the next day he's on a private plane. A bit like Lady And The Tramp."

No word yet as to the name of the furry companion.
