Justin Bieber asks 'Beliebers' to adopt from animal shelters

Along with starring in his recently released movie, Never Say Never, Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber will be featured in PETA’s newest billboard ad.

In the advertisement, the 16-year-old encourages all "Beliebers" to adopt from animal shelters as opposed to buying pets from breeders or pet stores.

According to PETA, every year 6 to 8 million abandoned or stray dogs and cats are brought to animal shelters, over half of which are euthanized because of the lack of adoptions. Buying animals from pet stores also supports the cruel practices that take place in puppy mills.

"It's really important that people adopt," says Bieber. "I really encourage going out to an animal shelter or a place where you can get a dog who has been abandoned or doesn't have a home."
