Happy ending for puppy that nearly went postal

Last week we reported the incredible story of Guess, the 5 month old puppy who was almost air-mailed to Atlanta, Georgia – a journey that undoubtedly would have ended his young life. Happily for him, he will begin a new life today as he goes up for adoption.

Stacey Champion, who bought Guess as a birthday gift for her son's 11th birthday, failed to pay a bond set for care and so has lost any rights to ownership.

The shelter where Guess is being cared for, the Minneapolis Animal Care and Control Center, said that they have been inundated with queries from potential adopters. Shelter official Jeanette Wiedemeier Bower has estimated hundreds of individuals from the U.S. and worldwide expressed interest in the puppy, after the story captured the hearts of people everywhere.

It has been decided that the shelter will hold a special draw today (Friday) and all those wishing to be considered for ownership have been asked to go to the shelter at 2 p.m. Ten names will be drawn, and the shelter will then determine which will be the best environment for Guess.
