Surviving a weekend in Las Vegas on a vegan, gluten-free diet

Ahh, Vegas. This was my first time visiting Sin City and I truly had no idea what to expect. Of course, I had seen movies like The Hangover and Ocean's Eleven, but until you step foot onto the Strip, you are still a rookie.

Prior to visiting the man-made city in the desert, I did some research into what I might be able to eat when I got there. The results were grim, especially since I am not only vegan, but gluten-free as well. I purchased and brought quite a few packaged items and fresh fruit with me, but thankfully, I did not starve while there. In fact, for the most part, and with a few modifications, there was something I could eat at every place I found.

Day 1: A friend of mine lives in Vegas, so she took me off the Strip to dinner at Khoury's, a Mediterranean gem. There, I feasted like a queen and left quite stuffed.
What I could eat on the Mini-House Mezza: veg grape leaves, hummus, baba ganoush, and green bean salad
Day 2: I had read that the best vegan dish found in Vegas was actually at a restaurant called Burger Bar, and that was no joke. This vegan burger is full of amazingly delicious marinated and grilled vegetables, surrounded by succulent portobello mushrooms, and served with any kind of fry your heart desires. For only $12, this filling meal is an absolute steal in this town!
Served with fries and a pickle, this really is the most delicious meal a vegan could hope for!
Day 3: Sometimes you are forced to eat a salad, but it's not always a bad thing. This salad, minus the cheese, was absolutely delicious. Look how fresh it is! I devoured it at the Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris.
Mmm, butter lettuce with freshly ground pepper, beets, and crisp green apples. Perfection.
