Sophia Bush inspired to consider vegan diet because of Alicia Silverstone’s book

Sophia Bush, star of the CW series One Tree Hill, credits Alicia Silverstone's book for inspiring her to consider switching to a vegan diet. Bush admits that she hasn’t fully embraced the vegan lifestyle as she is unsure she will give up meat and dairy for good but she is committed to reducing her carbon footprint and thinks this may be the way to go.

"I'm slowly trying to do the vegan thing, so I'm not really a vegan yet but I'm working on it,” said the 28-year-old actress. “My family is Italian (and) my whole life has consisted of great meat and great cheese. I read Alicia Silverstone's book and I'm trying some of the recipes out."

Alicia Silverstone’s The Kind Diet—a book which shows that a meat and dairy free diet does not have to be depriving—was released in 2009 and has topped the New York Times best sellers list. In conjunction with the book’s release Silverstone launched The Kind Life—an interactive online community where the actress shares recipes and inspirations in an effort to support those looking to switch to a more compassionate lifestyle.
