Obama to challenge Mythbusters on upcoming ‘Archimedes Solar Ray’ episode

In an attempt to inspire the youth of today to excel in subjects such as science and math, President Obama will appear on an upcoming episode of Discovery Channel’s MythBusters called Archimedes Solar Ray. During the episode the President will challenge Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman to revisit the ancient and controversial myth: Did Greek scientist and polymath Archimedes set fire to an invading Roman fleet using only mirrors and the reflected rays of the sun?

Obama made the big announcement while hosting the White House Science Fair which recognizes the winners of the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) competitions. On hand at the event were the Mythbusters themselves along with Bill Nye of Bill Nye the Science Guy.

"I'm pleased to welcome Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, known as the MYTHBUSTERS,” said Obama. “I can announce today that I taped a special guest appearance for their show, although I didn't get to blow anything up... I was a little frustrated about that."

The Archimedes Solar Ray episode of Mythbusters will air on the Discovery Channel on December 8.

  1. So, while the economy collapses and impending financial doom creeps ever closer, the President is busy filming PR propaganda with help from the Discovery Channel:

    Swell.

I, for one, am hoping that a number of Obama's misconceptions will be tested, including his belief that there really IS such a thing as a "free lunch":

The episode airs a full month after the entire electorate weighs in on whether Dr. Soetoro's myths have already been "busted".

    And they most certainly have...
