Saks Fifth Avenue has revealed a new limited edition t-shirt designed by Donna Karan to benefit Key To The Cure—a charity initiative created by Saks to benefit women's cancer research and treatment organizations throughout the United States. Uma Thurman, who serves as Key To The Cure spokesperson appears in a national public service announcement (PSA) wearing the new shirt.
"Everyone I know has been affected by breast cancer one way or the other," says Thurman. "It is vital that we work toward a cure as well as develop more accurate and advance testing. I am proud to be a part of Key To The Cure and look forward to the day we can say breast cancer is no longer a life threat to women."
The Key To The Cure shirt—available at all Saks Fifth Avenue stores as well as online— retails for $35 with 100% of the proceeds from each sale going toward local charity partners.
“Who better than Uma Thurman to represent this campaign?" states Karan. "She's a mother and an artist and is passionate about making a difference."
"For me, it's not just about dressing women; it's about addressing the issues that are so important to all of us," says Donna Karan. "I lost my mentor Anne Klein and my best friend Lynn Kohlman to breast cancer. We've made great strides, but we still don't have a cure."
Saks is also hosting a charity shopping weekend October 21-24. During the event the specialty retailer will donate 2% of all sales up to $500,000 to women’s cancer charities—this is in addition to $375,000 Saks is donating to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
