North Shore Animal League America has announced that comedienne Sandra Bernhard will host its Fifth Annual DogCatemy Celebrity Gala, an event which aims to raise awareness for the plight of shelter animals and supports the efforts of the no-kill animal rescue organization.
"I am excited to take part in this fun evening that celebrates the important work done by North Shore Animal League America," said Sandra Bernhard. "We adopted our dog George from the Animal League last year, and he has brought such incredible joy to our family. I can't imagine why anyone would buy a pet when there are so many amazing ones in need of loving homes found at shelters."
"The DogCatemy Celebrity Gala is where we celebrate our accomplishments but most importantly we thank all of our donors, partners and sponsors, whose kindness and generosity enable us to fulfill our mission of saving animals lives and finding them loving homes," said J. John Stevenson, President of North Shore Animal League America. "This is an evening we look forward to all year, and we are delighted to have Sandra Bernhard host."
This year’s DogCatemy Celebrity Gala—which welcomes well-behaved pets—will be held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Thursday, November 4 at 7 p.m. For more information visit www.animalleague.org/gala/2010.
