Kate Walsh and Purina Cat Chow team up to raise money for breast cancer awareness

Purina Cat Chow continues its three-year commitment to breast cancer awareness by donating $200,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure—a much better pairing than the questionable Komen-KFC collaboration—and launching the Cat Nap for the Cause campaign. Teaming up with Purina in its fundraising efforts is cat lover and breast cancer awareness supporter, actress Kate Walsh.

Starting September 9, supporters are asked to join Purina’s Facebook page and pledge to take a 20-minute cat nap during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For each napper, Purina will donate $2, up to $150,000—this amount is in addition to the already earmarked $200,000 donation for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

“One of my favorite things to do is hang out with my cats Billy and Pablo…and I’m not kidding. I know many people share the same bond with their pets,” said Walsh, star of ABC’s Private Practice. “As a cat lover and daughter of a courageous woman who has been a breast cancer survivor for more than 10 years, I’m thrilled to support a campaign that empowers cat lovers and breast cancer supporters to make a difference and raise funds simply by taking a cat nap this October.”

In addition to Walsh’s commitment to take a cat nap for the cause, the actress and other celebrity supporters will donate personalized blankets to help raise awareness for the campaign. Supporters are urged sign up at www.Facebook.com/PurinaCatChow to participate in the blanket giveaway.
