Oscar winners Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock to star in ‘Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close’

The film adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer’s second novel “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close” appears to be all systems go with Hollywood heavyweights Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock currently in negotiations to star in the movie and Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours) directing.

Hanks and Bullock will play the parents of Oskar Schell, a nine-year-old Francophile, vegan, tambourine player, jeweler, actor and pacifist—quite the combination. The story follows Schell as he urgently searches the five boroughs of New York City for a lock that fits a key left to him by his father, who died in the World Trade Center on 9/11.

The film, which still does not have an actor in place to play the lead role of Oskar Shell, is slated to begin shooting in January.
