Funny lady Betty White is back on TV making people laugh in the new show “Hot in Cleveland.” The 88 year old actress and animal advocate that everyone loves to love stars as caretaker Elka Ostrovsky in the TV Land comedy. Co-starring alongside White is Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, and Wendie Malick.
“Hot in Cleveland” revolves around three best friends whose plane—which was headed for Paris—crash lands in Cleveland, Ohio. Horrified at first, the ladies soon discover that they are the bee’s knees in C-Town and decide to lease a piece of “cheap real estate.” The trio is introduced to the property’s sassy and opinionated caretaker moments after the paperwork is signed.
The show is a true throw back with comical and predictable one-liners. Viewers will find the cast interaction charming and refreshing with silly, over-the-top melodramatics—isn’t that the way comedy is supposed to be?
While Elka Ostrovsky is definitely no Rose Nylund, White reminds us why we always love her characters whether portraying a naïve Golden Girl from St. Olaf or an opinionated pot-smoking widow who escaped from the Nazis.
The show is produced by Sean Hayes of ”Will & Grace” and airs on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on TVLAND. If you missed the first episode, you can check it out online at www.tvland.com/shows/hot-in-cleveland.
