Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest pen open letter to Conklin Dairy Farms

Share |

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis and her husband Christopher Guest have penned an open letter to Gary Conklin of Conklin Dairy Farms in Plain City, Ohio—the site of the horrific animal abuse caught on video during a Mercy For Animals undercover investigation.

The letter states that the couple’s daughter was “overcome with grief that human beings could inflict such cruelty and unconscious hatred at the most benign of creatures and their infants.”

Curtis and Guest ask the farmer if he has shown the footage to his children and question his plan to address the situation.

“We challenge you to have the courage, as the brave person who filmed this did, to open your doors and your hearts. Become the standard for safety and kindness and actually change -- change your mental state and spend the rest of your lives, and the lives of your descendants, trying to make your farm the leader in humane, clean, loving treatment of the very animals you profit from. You have the opportunity. Certainly one more than those helpless victims of your sick, tortured abuse.”

It's always fantastic when celebrities use their fame to help spread the message about animal welfare causes.  And what better star to recognize this horrific abuse case than someone who promotes dairy products.  At This Dish Is Veg, we hope Curtis will reconsider her relationship with Dannon.  After seeing the Conklin Dairy Farm footage, which is not an isolated incident, one must wonder what kind of abuse the cows who supply milk for Activia endure.
