ASPCA wins Best Charitable Organization/Non-Profit Website Webby Award

Nearly a million voters around the world chose the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) as the recipient of the Best Charitable Organization/Non-Profit Web Site of the Year in the Webby People’s Voice Awards. The ASPCA will be honored at the official Webby Awards ceremony on June 14th in New York City, which will be hosted by B.J. Novak of NBC’s “The Office”. On June 15th, fans of the awards and supporters of the ASPCA will be able to watch the ceremony on the official Webby Awards YouTube Channel.

The Webby Awards have been called the “Internet’s highest honor” by the New York Times, and are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, whose members include Arianna Huffington, Twitter’s Biz Stone, and Martha Stewart, among many other luminaries. David-Michel Davies, the Executive Director of the awards, describes them as honoring “the very best of the Internet,” and continues on to say that “The ASPCA’s achievement is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators.”

The Vice President of Member Communications for the ASPCA, Betsey Fortlouis, gives credit to Boston Interactive, the Web site’s producers. She states, “We are thrilled to have received such a great honor by the voting public. Boston Interactive has designed a great Web site that supports our messaging and provides easy navigation.” The firm has been nominated for Webby Awards in the past, and their online portfolio features the ASPCA’s website and describes it as “an engaging and educational website that creates a sense of community and motivates its visitors to take action.” They have also worked on a website redesign for Farm Sanctuary (www.farmsanctuary.org), another animal welfare organization.
