Discovery confirms acquisition of Sarah Palin Alaska documentary

After much speculation Discovery Communications confirmed that is has acquired the rights to Sarah Palin’s Alaska, a new eight-part documentary about Palin and her home state of Alaska. The series is slated to premier on TLC and will be executive produced by Mark Burnett of Survivor and Apprentice.

“Our family enjoys Discovery's networks," said Palin. "I look forward to working with Mark to bring the wonder and majesty of Alaska to all Americans."

"Discovery Communications is so excited to help Sarah Palin tell the story of Alaska, and to have a great documentary filmmaker in Mark Burnett helping to reveal Alaska's powerful beauty as it has never been filmed, and as told by one of the state's proudest daughters," stated Peter Liguori, Chief Operating Officer of Discovery Communications.

"With a dynamic personality that has captivated millions, I can't think of anyone more compelling than Sarah Palin to tell the story of Alaska," said Mark Burnett. "I'm thrilled to reunite with Discovery on this project, which brings together one of the most fascinating figures of our time with one of the most wondrous places on earth."

As deep supporters of the majesty and wonder of nature, we wish the series and the former Governor the best of luck. Additionally we hope that the view of “Alaska's powerful beauty” does not include aerial wolf hunts, coastal plain oil drilling, or backyard turkey slaughters.
