Sarah Palin’s latest venture could be Alaska documentary

Ex-Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, along with “Survivor” creator Mark Burnett, reportedly have been meeting with network executives to pitch a “Planet Earth” style documentary featuring Palin’s home state.

According to Fox411, the project will not be a reality show (as some outlets have reported) rather it will spotlight the “people, geography and wildlife of Alaska.”

If one of the main focuses of the documentary is wildlife, we at TDIV would like to send an early warning out to all of the wonderful and diverse Alaskan animal population, as Palin’s animal welfare record was abysmal and that is putting it mildly.

During the 2008 presidential race, Michael Markarian, president of the Humane Society Legislative Fund, said the following in regards to Palin’s animal rights record.

“Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R-Alaska) retrograde policies on animal welfare and conservation have led to an all-out war on Alaska’s wolves and other creatures. Her record is so extreme that she has perhaps done more harm to animals than any other current governor in the United States.”

Also consider her continued support to drill for oil in the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuse (ANWR), the program her administration approved that paid hunters to kill wolves from airplanes and… you get the point.

This appears to be just another vehicle for Mrs. Palin to further profit from her new-found post-election fame.

Regardless of her past though, we sincerely hope the documentary—if a network actually decides to add another pot of gold to the former Governor’s fortune errr we mean pick up the project—actually shows the people, geography and wildlife of the great state of Alaska in a humanitarian light.

Or at least offers a glimpse of Russia from the back porch swing.
