Firefighter and author Rip Esselstyn appeared on Thursday’s Dr. Oz Show which was dedicated to men’s health. The best-selling author was challenged by Dr. Oz to use his knowledge to improve the health of three overweight Chicago firefighters. Esselstyn devised the 2 month vegan drill plan which is derived from his book, The Engine 2 Diet.

Esselstyn created the The Engine 2 Diet after learning that his fellow Engine 2 firefighters were in horrible physical condition. By following the plant-based plan, his co-workers achieved incredible results – significant weight loss, lower cholesterol, and improved overall health.

Rip Esselstyn is the son of Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn who works at the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute and is the author of Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease.
